Read this week about the “War” between Fox and Obama
The latest installation of the “Reads” page will be a collection of articles I enjoyed this week surrounding the so called “War” between the White House and Fox News which, in my view turned out to be more of a skirmish between members of the media establishment over whether or not it was appropriate for the White House to call out Fox News as the Republican tool that they are.
According to some, the White House has no business choosing which “news” establishments it considers to be valid. The most interesting moment came when the non-Fox networks refused to interview Kenneth Feinberg after the White House tried to block Fox News from conducting a similar interview.
Many have stuck up for Fox News by stating that Fox is simply the conservative version of MSNBC – a popular line among those who don’t pay very close attention. I side with those who’ve pointed out that MSNBC maintains a clear distinction between their news reporting and their opinion shows and that even the MSNBC nightly opinion shows (Hardball, The Ed Show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and the Rachel Maddow Show) display a remarkable level of professionalism, truthfulness and responsibility when compared to the opinion shows on Fox News.
